What a great success we had with our
“Internet the Next Generation”
Fundraising luncheon with guest speaker Dr Vint Cerf, Vice President of Google and co-founder of the
Internet, and what a learning experience for all of us! The first time we have ever done a sit down event
for more than 350 and the first time we have done electronic marketing.
Thanks to our esteemed Event Specialist Karen Dahlskog and our ever helpful fundraising assistant
Cathy Holland, over $100,000 was raised and hundreds of new people exposed to our cause!
Over 700 people heard young 7-year old Centre graduate Liam and his mum Lisa speak about the
Centre’s work. It was a privilege to hear Dr Cerf talk about the internet and many of us were delighted
to have the chance to meet the inventor of the cochlear implant, Professor Graeme Clark.
Noel Whittaker and Rex Newsome put up their hands to sponsor a child each for one year and Pipe
Networks bought the U2 guitar at auction for $30,000!
The West Wing team marketed the event entirely electronically saving hundreds dollars on printing and
postage and enabling the message to go out to thousands of Australians.
If you are interested in downloading Dr Cerf’s presentation from the lunch you can do so for a donation
to the Centre of $20. This can all be done by visiting www.newrealm.com.au and clicking on to the Dr
Cerf Presentation - thanks to Alessandro Sorbello of New Realm Media.
Also our first experience in post event marketing!
